چکیده

About 76 glitches in 25 pulsars have been reported to date. Most glitches are ‘giant’, with fractional increases of frequency ∆ν0/ν0 ∼ 10 . 25 glitches were analysed and presented by Shemar & Lyne (1996) who detected them mainly at Jodrell Bank during the monitoring of a sample of 279 pulsars in a regular timing programme up to MJD 49500. This paper is a continuation of their work up to MJD 50500. We present the detection and analysis of a further 14 glitches in 9 pulsars, 6 of which have glitched for the first time since monitoring had started. Eleven of these glitches are small (∆ν0/ν0 ∼ 10 ) and below the completeness threshold of Shemar and Lyne(1996). We report a giant glitch in PSR B1930+22, the second largest reported hitherto, with a ∆ν0/ν0 = 4.5 × 10 . We also report four recent glitches in PSR B1737−30 which continues to exhibit frequent glitches. Few of these pulsars show any recovery after the glitch.

Observations of three slow glitches in the spin rate of the pulsar B 1822 − 09

Three slow glitches in the rotation rate of the pulsar B1822−09 were revealed over the 1995–2004 interval. The slow glitches observed are characterized by a gradual increase in the rotation frequency with a long timescale of several months, accompanied by a rapid decrease in the magnitude of the frequency first derivative by ∼ 1–2 per cent of the initial value and subsequent exponential increas...

Observations of a Series of Six Recent Glitches in the Crab Pulsar

From 1995 to 1999, daily monitoring of the radio emission from the Crab pulsar at the Green Bank and Jodrell Bank observatories revealed a series of six sudden rotational spinups or glitches, doubling the number of glitches observed for this pulsar since 1969. With these observations, the range of time intervals between significant Crab glitches has widened considerably, indicating that the occ...

A Glitch in an Anomalous X-ray Pulsar

We report the detection of a sudden spin-up of the 11 s anomalous X-ray pulsar 1RXS J170849.0−4000910 in regular timing observations made with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer. The event, which occurred between MJD 51446 (1999 September 25) and 51472 (1999 October 21), is well characterized by an increase in the rotational frequency of magnitude |∆ν/ν| = (6.2±0.3)×10−7 and an increase in the rat...

Glitch Observations in Slow Pulsars

We have analyzed 5.5 years of timing observations of 7 " slowly " rotating radio pulsars, made with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. We present improved timing solutions and 30, mostly small new glitches. The most interesting results are: 1) The detection of glitches one to two orders of magnitude smaller than ever seen before in slow radio pulsars. 2) Resolving timing-noise looking st...

Pulsar Timing at Urumqi Astronomical Observatory: Observing System and Results

A pulsar timing system has been operating in the 18-cm band at the Urumqi Astronomical Observatory 25-m telescope since mid-1999. Frequency resolution allowing dedispersion of the pulsar signals is provided by a 2×128×2.5 MHz filterbank/digitiser system. Observations of 74 pulsars over more than 12 months have resulted in updated pulsar periods and period derivatives, as well as improved positi...
